Opplev Oppdal
This is a diverse and exciting rafting trip that will suit most adults. After beginning in relatively calm water, you will experience a variety of exciting rapids: Pyramid Rock, Hakka, Ålma Drop, The Shark’s Mouth, Bridge Rapids, Vengavoll Canyon, Purple Monster, S Bend, Bridge Rock, Gyda’s Rock, Flip Hole and finally Anna’s Rapids. The rapids are named after stories and characters from rafting trips. This is a medium level trip, but the guides are good at adapting the level of excitement to suit the wishes of the participants. You will also have a chance to try cliff jumping during this trip.
Practical information:
This trip is graded 3-4 out of 6 on the international scale of river difficulty.
The minimum age is 15 but varies depending on the river level:
-
When the river level is high, which often occurs in June, the minimum age is 18 and the trip is graded 4+.
-
When the river level is lower, the minimum age for children accompanied by an adult is 12 and the trip is graded 3. This generally occurs in late July and lasts for the rest of the season.
The flow or river level depends on snow melting and rainfall. The river level is highest during the snow melting season in May and June. Rafting in the river is faster and more challenging at this time of the year. From July to September, the water level is generally lower and the character of the Driva changes. The rapids are just as fun and demanding but there are stretches of calm water between the rapids.
Arrive at the rafting centre for check-in approx. 10 minutes before the scheduled start time. After check-in, it’s time to change into our rafting gear and divide up the rafting teams. The first couple of kilometres are gentle and your guide will provide paddling instruction and a safety briefing before we reach the first rapids. The total distance we raft down the river is 14 km. When we reach the end of our trip, transportation will be waiting to take us back to the rafting centre where you will be welcome to have a hot shower if you wish.
